Cliff Everall Memorial Cup - Awarded to the Top Junior at the Short
Range Meeting.

The Staffordshire Indoor Short-Range Championships 2026 took place on Saturday 18th April 2026, within the impressive facilities of the Rugeley Rifle and Pistol Club.
The home range members faired particularly well, claiming 3 of the 4 trophies up for grabs, and additionally winning all three Classes. This was quite a remarkable achievement for Rugeley Rifle and Pistol Club.
Richard Hemingway won Class 'A', together with the Smith Cup - awarded to the Overall County Short-Range Championship winner.
Phoebe Houghton won Class 'B', also the Cliff Everall Memorial Cup - awarded to the Top Junior at the County Short-Range Championship.
Debbie Truman won Class 'C', additionally winning the Col. N.C. Joseph Cup - awarded to the Top Lady at the County Short-Range Championship. A very close finish saw Debbie Truman and Phoebe Houghton tied - both scoring 377 out of a possible 400. However, Debbie was awarded the Col. N.C. Joseph Cup having had the better count-back score.
Ian Abbotts of the City of Stoke Rifle and Pistol Club won the Veterans Tankard for Top Veteran at the County Short-Range Championship, thereby denying Rugeley a clean sweep of the trophies.
Officials for the day were Scorer - Graham Kershaw, and Range Officer - Bob Park for Range Officer.
Many congratulations to all the prize winners, and huge thanks to the officials for their sterling work. Finally, sincere thanks must go to all the competitors for taking part.
It was a welcome return of the Short-Range Championships, re-instated after a break of 7 years.
Here's hoping that 2027 will once again see another closely fought contest!
